![]() Similar to Ray's approach, my process was to be as creative as possible in first drawing shapes and how to combine them to make other forms. Second, he de-saturates neutral colors, and uses them to produce a wide range in values, and have a contrasting full saturation focal point. His process focuses on a 2 method format where he first choose specific shapes that are appealing to the eye. One of the artists known for working and producing a number of works that include patterns is San Francisco based artist, Rex Ray. ![]() ![]() feature Think its confusing and complicated? Look at the image to the right and you'll see what I mean. Imagine making a piece involving a number of shapes: triangle, square, circle, and octagon into something of a design that has a more complex. What's incredible is how a piece is made from one just shape that constantly repeats itself in a consistent manner. More so, the technique I find fascinating is patterns. Texture, form, color variation, scaling, cropping, and repetition. There are so many variables that are included when looking at a number of different art pieces.
